Week 7 TE Update – Dante Pitts

by Dante Pitts

Alright, here is what we know: Dwayne Allen has fallen off in terms of production, Hunter Henry is a TE1, and Gronk is still a beast. There were a few bright spots in week 6 and some Tight Ends that could give you some great production in waiver wire.

  • Jack Doyle: Dwayne Allen has fallen in production, and it looks like Jack Doyle is going to see some of those targets. In week 7, he is going up against a Tennessee Titans team that has a surprisingly good defense but the Colts, who aren’t doing that well, always plays hard in this divisional match-up. I predict that Doyle will continue to outwork Dwayne Allen and his production will rise. Against Houston, he had 4 catches for 53 yards and one touchdown. Monitor Allen’s ankle injury as it could be important in the percentage of snaps Doyle could receive.
  • Hunter HenryAntonio Gates has been back for his second straight game and Henry has still seen an upside in production. Hunter has become a favorite target of veteran Philip Rivers as he led the team in catches, receiving yards, and targets which he had six catches for 83 yards and touchdown against the Raiders. It seems that San Diego will utilize both of the Tight Ends in the offense meaning Hunter owners should feel confident about his production going forward.

  • Zach Ertz: Ertz has yet to establish himself in the Philadelphia offense and will have a tough match-up going up against a strong Minnesota Vikings defense. Although some of his production can be attributed to the miscues of Carson Wentz, it seems that Ertz has yet to find his groove. In the two games since he has been back, he has only been able to reel in 6 catches for 59 yards.
  • Sleeper: C.J. Fiedorowicz: If you listened to the last SkullKing Football podcast , both Ryan and Justin were high on Fiedorowicz. After a little bit of research, I find him to be of value if you are looking for a sleeper or even to stream a tight end, depending on the match-up. He is owned in 1% percent of yahoo leagues, and has caught 14 of 20 targets for 194 yards and two touchdowns over the span of two games. He has a difficult match-up in week 7 going up against the Denver Broncos, but after that he could pay big dividends.

DFS Tight End – Delanie Walker: if you are playing some guaranteed contest and need a tight end that people may be avoiding, take a look at Delanie Walker. Marcus Mariota has been playing great as of late, coming off of wins at Miami and Cleveland, and has another favorable match-up against the Colts. Players may be scared of drafting Walker due to his low stat line against Cleveland. The Colts got hurt last week against the above mentioned C.J. Fiedorowicz and rank in the bottom half in terms of fantasy points allowed to tight ends.
