Strengths

Speed/Acceleration: Armstead possesses great speed and acceleration and if given an open hole, can produce big yardage and long TDs.
Balance: Armstead has a low-center of gravity when running the football. He also leans forward, and initiates contact to the defender.
Attitude: He can excel in a short yardage and goal line carries if given an open hole due to the way he carries the football. He is fearless and can use his great speed to get to the hole and fight for extra yards.

Weaknesses

Patience: With his great speed and acceleration, he tends to not use patience when carrying the football. He can use more patience so he can find the correct hole and have more positive yardage plays.
Receiving: He did not have a lot of production on the receiving end. This can limit his opportunities on third down.

Overview

Overall, Armstead is an underrated back. He has great potential to be an impactful running back at the next level. He can use some more development with his patience, but if he figures it out, he can be dangerous. His serious speed will catch the eye of NFL teams and he only needs some opportunity.
