Welcome back to your weekly installment of Pop, Lock, and Drop It! Last week’s predictions weren’t bad, Jameis produced and Lamar finished in the Top 10. For most of that game, I thought I would get all three again with Deshaun, but alas, he went supernova in the second half. BUT here we are onto Week 4! Lets get it!
First things first!
Let’s break it down a bit:
A “Pop”- a quarterback outside the Top 15 who I believe has Top 5 upside this week.
A “Lock”- a quarterback that, without injury, I cannot see finishing outside the Top 5 this week.
A “Drop It”- a Top 5 quarterback that has the best chance of finishing outside the Top 12 this week.
As always, we are using 4-points-per-passing-touchdown/-1-points-per-interception scoring.
POP: Daniel Jones
Danny Dimes sure made an impression in his first start, scoring 34.2 fantasy points with 2 passing and 2 rushing touchdowns — including the would-be game winner. From a juicy matchup to an even juicier one, Jones now gets the Washington Redskins who just allowed Mitch Trubisky to score 20.4 fantasy points against them. With Daniel Jones‘ rushing floor and cake matchups, I can see him definitely making his way into the Top 5 this week.
FLASH FACT! IN ONE GAME DANIEL JONES HAS SCORED MORE FANTASY POINTS THAN BAKER MAYFIELD HAS ALL SEASON!
LOCK: Russell Wilson
Coming off of his most pass attempts in years and a QB#1 Performance, Russ now gets to face the Cardinals, who are still missing Patrick Peterson. With a weak defense and high-paced offense, even if Wilson’s pass attempts regress back to his mean, I think his productivity will more than allow him to fire on all cylinders.
FLASH FACT! ARIZONA IS ALLOWING THE 2ND MOST PASSING YARDS AND FANTASY POINTS ALLOWED TO QUARTERBACKS PER GAME!
DROP IT: Tom Brady
Tied for QB5 for the year even with sitting out part of the game vs the New York Jets last weekend, Brady now has another in-division rival with the Buffalo Bills. The Bills are allowing the 5th least passing yards and fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks. With two Top 5 passing defenses facing off, I see this being as a slow-paced game with little quarterback value.
Honorable mentions: Nobody, fire up your studs.
FLASH FACT! BUFFALO HELD BRADY TO UNDER 14PTS PER GAME IN THEIR TWO MATCHUPS IN 2018!
