Williams Racing showed today their new colors and sponsors for season 2020, via their social media platforms. Less than a month ago, it became clear that Williams will be parting ways with their title sponsor ROKiT, which additionally contributed to the financial struggles of the team. Williams’ drivers George Russell and Nicholas Latifi will be racing in their rather stylishly-colored machines. As seen on the photos, one of the main sponsors is Sofina Foods, which is reportedly associated with Latifi’s sponsorship. Nevertheless, the color scheme predominantly features light grey and darker blue, with a rather matt finish.
So far, fans’ reaction on the new livery has been positive and appreciative. Many of us remember how last year’s Williams, featuring the ROKiT company as a title sponsor, was criticized for its looks, often comparing it to “toothpaste” packaging. With their cars using Mercedes engines, it is no surprise that the British team opted for a more “classy” look. The blue and light grey livery also reminds us of Williams’ late 1990s and 2000s look, which ended in 2014 with Martini’s involvement in Formula One as a sponsor. Although looks could be deceiving, one thing is certain – Russell and Latifi will come out on the track next week more motivated than ever.
