Lewis Hamilton won the British Grand Prix in the midst of major last-lap tire failure drama. Multiple drivers, including Hamilton, saw their front left tires deflating just minutes before the checkered flag was waved. Nevertheless, Hamilton managed to cross the finish line on 3 working tires, around 6 seconds ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen. Verstappen melted Hamilton’s 30+ seconds advantage in the last lap, however, that was not enough for the Dutch driver today. Charles Leclerc with Ferrari was the last one the podium, after Valtteri Bottas’ tire failure forced him to pit just a couple of laps before the end of the race. With that, Valtteri missed on the points today with a P11.

Daniel Ricciardo finished in P4 for Renault after a good battle with McLaren’s Lando Norris. Ricciardo’s teammate Esteban Ocon placed behind Norris, ahead of Pierre Gasly in P7 for Alpha Tauri. Alex Albon had another tough race, but he managed to bring his Red Bull to P8 after putting fresher tires towards the end. Lance Stroll with Racing Point and Sebastian Vettel with Ferrari finished 9th and 10th, respectively. They both struggled throughout the race, and both would have missed on the points if several other drivers did not get tire punctures.

Valtteri Bottas finished right behind Vettel after the unfortunate tire failure. In contrast to Lewis, Valtteri’s front left tire deflated just two laps before the end of the race, which forced him to pit as soon as possible. This eliminated his chances for the podium, which further more boosted Hamilton’s advantage in the championship. George Russell finished 12th after some good performance by the Williams driver. Carlos Sainz, whose McLaren also destroyed its front left tire, dropped to the disappointing P13 from running 5th throughout the race. Alfa Romeo’s Antonio Giovinazzi and Williams’ Nicholas Latifi finished 14th and 15th, respectively. Romain Grosjean remained 16th after an alternative pit stop strategy, which did not work out well for him. Kimi Raikkonen had yet another horrible race, which included tire wear struggles and front wing failure. Therefore, the Iceman finished last in P17 for Alfa Romeo.

Daniil Kvyat with Alpha Tauri crashed heavily on lap 12. Nevertheless, the Russian walked away disappointed but without injuries, thankfully. Alex Albon sent Kevin Magnussen’s Haas towards the wall on lap 1 after the two of them fought for 12th position. Fortunately, Kevin was not physically harmed, as well. Nico Hulkenberg, who qualified 13th, could not start today’s race due to his Racing Point’s failure to start the engine properly. The German driver was supposed to be substituting for Sergio Perez. The Mexican is currently quarantined after testing positive for Covid-19 on Thursday. Nico, however, will have another chance to race in 2020, following next weekend’s 70th Anniversary Grand Prix on Silverstone.
