Lewis Hamilton won the pole position on Monza in Italy. His teammate Valtteri Bottas helped Mercedes lock yet another 1-2 starting grid position for tomorrow’s Grand Prix. Carlos Sainz delivered a nice surprise to the McLaren team with P3 for the Spaniard. Racing Point’s Sergio Perez managed to stay ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, and the two of them placed 4th and 5th, respectively. Sainz’ teammate Lando Norris will start tomorrow’s race from 6th, ahead of Renault’s Daniel Ricciardo in P7. Lance Stroll qualified 8th for Racing Point, while Alex Albon, yet once again, could not find the correct setup of his Red Bull and finished 9th. Pierre Gasly completed the third qualifying session with a P10 for Alpha Tauri.

Daniil Kvyat with Alpha Tauri was the first to miss the entry to Q3. Renault’s Esteban Ocon qualified 12th, ahead of Charles Leclerc in P13 for Ferrari. Despite squeezing every inch of his car’s performance, Leclerc was not able to cross the elimination zone for second consecutive time this year. Kimi Raikkonen finished this session in P14 for Alfa Romeo. Kevin Magnussen’s P15 completed the Q2 elimination list in Monza.

The first qualifying session was pretty dynamic. Most drivers attempted waiting until the very end for their final fast lap attempt, which resulted in heavy traffic. Romain Grosjean with Haas was the first man eliminated in Q1 in P16. Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel brought the first disappointing result for the Tifosi on their home track in Italy. The German became a traffic victim and his quickest time was only good enough for 17th on the grid. Antonio Giovinazzi qualified 18th for Alfa Romeo, while Williams’ drivers George Russell and Nicholas Latifi placed 19th and 20th, respectively.
