It seems like 2021 will be a rather revolutionary year for the Renault F1 team. The French had already secured a 2-year-long contract with star driver Fernando Alonso when they signed the Concorde agreement, which will keep them in the sport at least until 2025. But the exciting news for Renault does not stop here. According to Skysports, Renault will rebrand as Alpine F1 Team for the 2021 Formula One season. The team also announced these upcoming changes on their Twitter account.

As of today, not much is known about Renault’s rebranding and we can surely expect to keep seeing this topic in the next few weeks as more details start to become available. Nevertheless, fans around the world must be assured that the new name does not involve changes in the team’s ownership. In other words, Renault is not selling their team, just giving it a fresh name and new look. At this point, we could only speculate regarding Alpine’s livery and color scheme. We could base our guess on the picture provided above, however, Formula One teams have been known for keeping their actual colors a secret until a new season’s very first race weekend.

Here is what Team Principal Cyril Abiteboul had to say about the upcoming changes:

“This change comes at a key moment in the trajectory of the team and the sport,” he said. “Alpine brings a new meaning, new values and colours to the paddock with the spirit of competition from other worlds and French creative agility. These will be assets in the preparation of 2022 deadlines.

“The new regulatory and financial framework will establish the conditions for a fairer motor sport in its redistribution of revenues; simpler and progressive in its governance.

“The implementation of the ‘budget cap’ will put an end to the expense race and will allow the signatory teams to be measured for their sporting value. Alpine has its place in Formula 1 and can challenge for victory.”

SkullKing Sports will keep you posted on this subject. Let us know which colors would you like to see on the new Alpines in 2021 in the comment section below.
