The White Sox completed their weekend series against the Detroit Tigers with a sweep, taking a lead in the AL Central and the AL as a whole. The Sox lead the Central with a 30-16 record, a mark that guarantees a finish of .500 or better for the first time since 2012. The Sox now pose the best record in the AL with a slight edge over the Tampa Bay Rays and Oakland Athletics.

The Sox are led by an offensive explosion in the 2020 season. The White Sox lead the American League in Runs, Home Runs, and RBIs. Individual standouts include Tim Anderson, Jose Abreu, Eloy Jimenez, and Luis Robert. Tim Anderson is poised to repeat as AL Batting Champion, while Abreu is playing like a true MVP candidate, and Robert has emerged as a frontrunner for Rookie of the Year.

Pitching has still been a question mark for the team, despite having among the lowest team ERAs in the AL, outside of Lucas Giolito, Dallas Keuchel, and Dylan Cease, the Sox could still use more depth in the starting rotation and the bullpen. The bats remain hot on the south side, and the Sox are looking more and more like legitimate contenders to make a deep playoff run.

The Sox look to continue their streak against the second place Minnesota Twins, and extend their lead in the AL Central. The Sox officially need 6 wins to clinch a playoff berth.
