Grosjean and Magnussen to Leave Haas in December

Haas Formula One team will soon need to employ a couple of talented and ambitious competitors. The reason – both of their current drivers, Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen, announced their upcoming departure from the team earlier today. To an extend, the news was highly anticipated, following their relatively poor performance in the past several seasons.

Grosjean, whose career begun in 2009 with Renault, joined the Haas F1 Team back in 2016. Since then, the French has scored a total of 110 points, which averages at 22 points per season. This is not a particularly impressive record. At this point, Grosjean’s chances for extending his Formula One career are rather slim, which would most likely force him to retire this December.

Kevin Magnussen made his Formula One debut in 2014 with the McLaren team. Despite finishing in 2nd in his first ever Grand Prix, this podium still remains Magnussen’s last. His career after McLaren did not develop as much as the young Dutchman would have wanted. Kevin joined the Haas F1 Team in 2017, and since then he has scored 96 points, which averages at around 24 points per season. Better than his teammate, while evidently not enough to keep him in Formula One much longer. Speaking realistically, Magnussen’s chances for a 2021 contract also are pretty small. Nevertheless, a comeback to Formula One is not something unheard of. Being only 28 years old, Kevin might as well take a short break from the sport and reconsider his career options for the future.

On a positive note, Grosjean and Magnussen still have 6 Grands Prix remaining for the rest of this season. Maybe the upcoming events could present to them with the perfect opportunity to impress other teams, such as, Red Bull or Alfa Romeo? One could never know… Stay tuned for our analysis on Haas’ most probable future drivers.
