Can Anderson Become Lead RB in Denver? – Ryan Skolrud

After a disappointing start to the 2015 fantasy football season, CJ Anderson finished strong down the stretch for the Denver Broncos. It now looks as if the Broncos are going to hold on to him for a few more seasons. John Elway seemed fine to let the young, “restricted free-agent” test the waters and see who was willing to pay for his services.

Anderson received a 4 year $18mil tender from the Miami Dolphins, who had just lost their RB, Lamar Miller, to the Houston Texans. Denver matched the Miami offer to hold onto Anderson.

The 25 year old RB now is the lead back in Gary Kubiak’s run first offense with Juwan Thompson as his backup and Ronnie Hillman still an unsigned free-agent. Anderson’s production over the last two years has been clutch down the stretch of the fantasy seasons. He has the potential to be a RB1 with the ability to not only run but also catch the ball out of the backfield, if Denver can improve their offensive line.

I would venture to guess that Anderson will take no less than a mid 3rd round pick in most fantasy draft rooms this next season. If he is on your radar, you need to be willing to pay for him.
