Fantasy Outlook: 2017 TE Draft Class

by Dante Pitts

David Njoku

I got to watch David Njoku play in person at the University of Miami and I can attest that he will be the real deal. Now, the flip side of this is the Cleveland Browns have been a mess for a long time, and Njoku has been recently drafted to the franchise. With Gary Barnidge no longer in the picture I predict Njoku to be the opening day starter with a great amount of potential.

OJ Howard

Pre-NFL Draft I l had OJ Howard being one of the top players in the class and he will not disappoint this coming NFL season. I was surprised how far he slid during the draft but now he is in a Bucs offense that is sure to prosper. Paired with Jameis Wintson, I foresee a solid rookie outing for him.

Bust potiential – Evan Engram

Evan Engram is coming into an offense that already has a lot of weapons for Eli Manning to choose from. With the addition of Brandon Marshall, along with the already established receivers in Odell Beckham Jr and Sterling Shepard, I believe it will be hard for Engram to have a large fantasy impact. Brandon Marshall will probably see most of the red zone targets and OBJ is already an established number one.

Sleeper – Jonnu Smith

Smith was another Tight end I got to watch for a few games at Florida International University. He is a very athletic Tight End and is coming into a Tennessee offense that usually runs two tight end sets. I can foresee Smith being a DFS tight end that will have a lot of potential, depending on match-ups. With comparisons to Delanie Walker, Smith has tremendous upside and is another weapon for Marcus Mariota.
