Finding the right quarterback to stream for your fantasy matchup is not quite as easy as it may seem. Just ask the multiple fantasy “experts” that started Derek Carr against the 49ers, or Joe Flacco (guilty on this one) at home against a Steelers team he cut up for 363 passing yds and 2 TDs in week 4. So, let’s see what we can do about this week’s QB situation.
Baker Mayfield – 38% Owned in ESPN Leagues
I know that we have been talking about Mayfield a lot in our waiver wire articles for the past 3…4…or maybe even 5 weeks. The fact is that the rookie QB has performed at a stream worthy level for six of his seven starts this season, putting up at least 300 pass yards or 2 passing TDs in those six games. Getting rid of Hue Jackson and Todd Haley seem to have helped the attitude in Cleveland as well and could provide a further boost to the young offense. The Browns face a Falcons team that has the ability to put up a lot of points as well as give up a lot of points. Look for Mayfield to put up another serviceable streaming week for you in week 10.
Nick Mullens – .8% Owned
Mullens was such a sensation in his 49ers debut that his Twitter account earned verified status WHILE PLAYING IN THE GAME! The rookie torched an Oakland defense that looked like it was ready to hit the bars for the night before the first quarter ended. Finishing the game with 262 passing yards and 3TDs, Mullens showed his ability to work in Kyle Shanahan’s offense and today was officially told he had passed C.J. Beathard on the depth chart. Mullens does not have the easiest game in week 10 against a Giants team that is middle of the road in passing yards given up (16th), however, New York also only has 10 sacks on the season and is almost in the bottom third for passer rating against (19th). Look for Mullens to put together a solid QB2 type of week to get you through your starter’s bye week.
