UPDATE 5:58PM PST:
In a complete shock to the NFL, Kareem Hunt has just been released and put on waivers by the Kansas City Chiefs. According to the official statement put out by the Chiefs organization, Hunt had apparently been less than truthful about the circumstances and details of the events in question from February.
Apparently, the video evidence that came out in the TMZ article earlier today contradicted Kareem Hunt’s statements that he had made previously to the organization. Due to his dishonesty, the Chiefs have decided to move on from their star running back, who has now been placed on waivers. Other NFL teams are eligible to put in a waiver claim for him.
We will have to wait and see what team put in a waiver claim for him due to a possible suspension coming and character issues concerning honesty with his employer.
UPDATE 4:30PM PST:
According to a report from Rotoworld, it looks as if Kareem Hunt is headed towards the Commissioner’s Exempt list.
Being put on the exempt list means that hunt can still collect his paychecks however, he is not able to attend practices or suit up for games until he is removed from the list. This means that Spencer Ware should be the starting running back for the Chiefs this Sunday against the Oakland Raiders and possibly longer while the lady investigates the video and the incident further.
UPDATE 1PM PST:
Kareem Hunt was sent home early today from practice after the Chiefs organization learned about the video released by TMZ. There is no official word yet as to whether or not hunt will play this week or even the rest of the season, but this is not a good sign for his prospects in playing.
I am sure many of you by now have heard the news about TMZ releasing video of an incident in a Cleveland hotel with Kareem hunt in a young woman. From what I’ve read on the incident the league and the Kansas City Chiefs have known about the incident for some time as it happened back in February. However, reports are coming out that the Chiefs are, much like the rest of the public, just now seeing the video footage from the hotel surveillance cameras.
It may still be too early to tell whether or not hunt will face disciplinary action this season from the incident. That being said, from a fantasy standpoint, The prudent option is to pick up Spencer Ware off of waivers if he is still available in your fantasy leagues.
Where was a productive back splitting time in 2015 with Charcandrick West and and taking over the Chiefs lead back role, by the end of 2016.
Much like the rest of the fantasy community, we are still gathering more information on the further implications from this video being released. We will do what we can to keep you updated as more information comes in.
