Week 14 Waiver Wire: WRs – Ryan Skolrud

by Ryan Skolrud

At this point in the season it is usually easier to find a usable wide receiver on the waiver wire then it is any other position. This season is no different as there is a fair share of players owned in less than 50% of leagues who can still help you get wins in the fantasy playoffs.

Adam Humphries owned in 41.1% of ESPN leagues

Humphries has very quietly been having an extremely solid PPR season in 2018. This last week was no exception as he finished with a team-high of nine targets in the game against Carolina. The slot receiver finish the date with seven receptions, 61 yards and his fifth touchdown in 5 weeks. Over the last 4 weeks Humphries has scored the ninth most fantasy points in PPR leagues and is becoming one of Jameis Winston‘s most trusted receivers.

This week Humphries gets a matchup against the New Orleans Saints at home in a game that could end up being a shootout. If Winston struggles much, Humphries could find himself with even more targets in dump off situations, especially if DeSean Jackson is unable to go again in week 14.

Chris Godwin owned in 47.2% of leagues

Along with Humphries, Godwin has also had a solid season with the Buccaneers rotating with Humphries in the third wide receiver spot. The second-year receiver has only had three games all season with less than four targets and is the WR26 in regular PPR leagues, less than one full point behind DeSean Jackson on the season, and ahead of Amari Cooper, Josh Gordon, and Julian Edelman.

If Jackson sits out again in week 14, look for Godwin to put up another great game against a Saints DST who has given up more fantasy points to WRs than any other team in the league.

Curtis Samuel owned in 12.5% of leagues

With Greg Olsen going on injured reserve this leaves a lot more targets available for the second-year wide receiver. Finishing last week with six receptions for 88 yards and one rushing attempt for a yards, Samuel has managed to finish four of the last five weeks with at least 95 yards and/or touchdown. Next week Samuel gets a Browns defense that is in the bottom third for giving up points to wide receivers.

Dante Pettis owned in 2.2% of leagues

Pettis had a career day in Seattle where he played his college ball at the University of Washington. Finishing the day with a 5/129/2 line he now has nine catches for over 200 yards and 3 touchdowns in the last 2 weeks. As long as Marquise Goodwin and Pierre Garcon are out with injury, Pettis will continue to be the main target in the passing game outside of George Kittle for the 49ers.

Other WRs to Consider:

John Ross – Owned in 15.5% of leagues: Boom-or-bust as he is TD dependent and now has a QB that has no accuracy beyond 20yd.

Zay Jones – Owned in 1.7% of leagues: Has had a couple of very productive games in his last 3 and now the Bills have released Kelvin Benjamin and Andre Holmes.
