5’11, 216 lbs, Junior
2018 stats(12 Gms):
257 carries, 1216 rushing yards, 13 rush TDs, 22 receptions, 157 receiving yards
Balance: Due to low-set hips and a low center of gravity, Montgomery has superb balance that allows him to remain upright even after first contact.
Durability: Did not miss a game throughout college career despite heavy workload(250+ carries last 2 seasons). The type of runner that will wear a defense down if given enough touches throughout the course of a game.
Receiving Ability: Has shown soft hands throughout his collegiate career. Was schemed open via motion in the passing game to get him plays in space.
Athleticism: Lacks above average burst through the hole and long speed, two traits that will likely limit his big play potential.
Vision: Can sometimes get jittery when the play goes awry and his first read isn’t there and try to bounce it outside, rather than simply taking what’s given.
Montgomery has the tools needed to excel as a gap/power runner in the NFL. Relative lack of burst may limit his upside in a zone scheme. His solid receiving ability will make him a respected threat on all 3 downs, although he seems best suited to early down work as a tough, rugged downhill runner.
