Draft Profile: Ole’ Miss WR AJ Brown – Nabeel Lalani

by Nabeel Lalani

AJ Brown

6’0″ 226 Lbs

2018 Stats

85 Rec, 1320 yd, 6 TD

Strengths

AJ is your perfect slot WR with decent size and an Uber athlete. He is a WR that will always help you move the chains. His route running skills are above average and he is always aware of where the first down marker is. Also has very good hand as you see in his highlight tape where he is making some catches that make you stop for a second.

Weaknesses

Did most of his work out of the slot, could potentially lower his draft value of a team wants a WR who can play both in the slot and on the outside. He also does not get huge separation which could be another reason why we see him out of the slot more than on the outside, where separation is more important. His lack of separation is also why we see him making a lot of this highlight catches.

Overall

AJ Brown should be coming off of the board day one of the draft most likely near the second half of the first round. He looks like a more polished WR than Christian Kirk who was seen as the top slot WR in last years draft.

Many teams will see Doug Baldwin in AJ Brown primarily use him in the slot but occasionally test him on the outside.
