Boykin is Bigger than Hopkins, faster than OBJ, jumps higher than Julio, and has bigger hands than Evans. His large frame scares cornerbacks into silly mistakes and forces interference penalties. He has good body control and can make back shoulder catches on a somewhat consistent basis. His biggest strength is his blocking ability, he is able to manhandle opposing defenders giving his running back an open lane when needed.
Boykin’s catching ability is pretty hit or miss and is something that definitely needs to be worked on, he takes lengthy strides which limit his burst coming out of routes. Boykin has impressive size but needs to work on using it better, he gets bodied by smaller cornerbacks in press coverage.
Boykin is, overall, a very inconsistent player who needs more time to develop for him to be a NFL starter. He has the potential to be a true force in the league but that is all based on if he is willing to work for it. He seems like he will go late day two of the draft but definitely might slip to day three. His blocking ability increases his draft value and if he is drafted by the right team, he could turn into a solid number two receiver. The Steelers are my favorite team for him to go to, even though they are having some internal problems currently, their organization has a great track record of turning their wide receiver’s into stars.
