Two Sleeper RBs for Week 8 – Anthony Haage

by Anthony Haage

Ty Johnson, DET:

Johnson should be a very popular waiver wire add this week in all leagues, because Kerryon Johnson was placed on the IR. Ty Johnson instantly becomes a low-end RB2 until Week 16 when/if Kerryon Johnson returns. JD McKissic will also see an increase in snaps and could be a solid PPR option, but Ty Johnson gets the early-down/goal-line work after Kerryon injury.

The Lions face the Giants this week who have given up the 5th most fantasy points to running backs in PPR leagues. Look for Ty Johnson to get 20+ touches, 120 total yards, and a score this week and to continue to be a great asset for fantasy owners to have for the rest of the season.

Darrell Henderson, LAR:

The Rams RBs have a chance to feast this week against the Bengals. The Bengals have given up the most fantasy points to running backs this season, and the Rams are up next. The Rams should be able to hold off the Bengals early, getting Henderson a chance to take over later in the game. Malcolm Brown is still battling an ankle injury, and there is a possibility he sits. Henderson has gotten 19 touches in the past two games with Gurley missing one of them.

In order for Henderson to be able to have a breakout game, you have to monitor Malcolm Brown’s injury and Gurley if the Rams want to play it safe this week. If either one of these players play, Henderson should still be able to have a solid game, and if they both play, Henderson won’t be able to have a breakout game. I would predict the Rams to play Gurley, but sit him later in the game after the Rams build a solid lead, then Henderson to get around 10-15 touches with 70 yards, and a score.
