The byes are almost done, but this final week is a doozy. Play-off pushes here we come!
Let’s break it down a bit:
A “Pop”- a quarterback outside the Top 15 who I believe has Top 5 upside this week.
A “Lock”- a quarterback that, without injury, I cannot see finishing outside the Top 5 this week.
A “Drop It”- a Top 5 quarterback that has the best chance of finishing outside the Top 12 this week.
As always, we are using 4-points-per-passing-touchdown/-1-points-per-interception scoring.
Pop: Derek Carr Vs NYJ
Now Carr didn’t finish as a Top 5 quarterback last week but he did put up 20.8 fantasy points -well above his average. On a normal week, anything over 20.4 would earn him a Top 5 finish. So, in a normal week where quarterbacks don’t go nuclear, he would’ve been a top option, BUT QB11 isn’t too shabby. Can has another juicy matchup with the J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets who have been absolutely torched by opposing quarterbacks this season. On top of all of this, with Oakland’s own struggles on defense, I expect this game to be more of a shoot-out than expected. If I was a betting man, I’d bet the over on this game.
FLASH FACT! Only the Tennessee Titans (+6.6 points) are allowing more fantasy points above average scores than the New York Jets (+6.5 points) over the last 5 weeks.
Lock: Lamar Jackson vs LAR
Isn’t Jackson just the ultimate cheat code and fantasy MVP. Lamar’s rushing floor gives him almost guaranteed Top 12 every week. Adding in his growth as a passer, I don’t think I can ever count him out, Further, with most of the other top players facing rough match-ups, I would just put Jackson as the Lock and move on.
FLASH FACT! Lamar Jackson is on pace to break the record for most fantasy points scored by a quarterback.
Honorable Mention: Nobody is a lock this week.
Drop It: Russell Wilson vs Phi
Coming out of a tough loss to Tom Brady and the Patriots, I expect the Philadelphia Eagles to come out with a chip on their shoulder versus Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks. The Eagles have been much improved over the last five weeks, holding quarterbacks on average 5 fantasy points below their average scores. With Tyler Lockett hindered by his leg injury, I could see Wilson struggle without his deep threat at 100%.
FLASH FACT: No quarterback has thrown over 250 yards versus the Eagles over the last 4 weeks.
Honorable Mention: Dak Prescott vs New England
