Steelers sign James Lockhart and three others, wrap up UDFA signings.

With the 2020 NFL Draft in the rear view mirror, the Pittsburgh Steelers moved ahead with the process of rounding out their 90 man roster. The signing of Baylor DE James Lockhart makes him the 10th Undrafted Free Agent to be offered a deal with the club.

The redshirt senior began his career with Texas A&M before transferring to Baylor after two seasons. During his senior campaign, the 6-foot-2, 263 LB Defensive End had 6 sacks and 31 tackles. Over his career, Lockhart played in 43 games, starting 13 of them.

Other UDFA signings for the Steelers include DT Josiah Coatney (Ole Miss), FB Spencer Nigh (Auburn) and C Christian Montano (Tulane).

Coatney, also a redshirt senior, started three years on the defensive line for the Rebels. He accumulated 152 total tackles throughout his career, 15.5 for a loss while sacking the opposing QB 6.5 times.

Nigh made 9 starts at FB for the Tigers during his senior year. Prior to that, he was Auburn’s backup H back. While he played in 40 games throughout his collegiate career, he did not accumulate any stats until his senior campaign, when he had 1 carry and 2 catches.

At 6-foot-4 and weighing 300 pounds, Montano started all 13 games in his only season for the Green Wave. Before that, he played for Brown where he was converted to a tackle during his junior year before breaking his foot in the first game of his senior season. Montano then attended Tulane as a graduate transfer and petitioned the NCAA for a 6th year of eligibility.
