UFC Fight Night Preview

This weekend’s fight card at the UFC Apex Center in Las Vegas, Nevada might be the one that has excited me most since the UFC 249 card. This fight is going to have a feeling of The Contender Series, and it should be full of great fights.

The main event interests me to see how well Tyron Woodley composes himself. If he comes to the fight looking like his championship self, he will have no problem beating Burns. Burns is coming off of a TKO win against Demian Maia. I was not entirely impressed with this win, but his record and win streak has proven he could be a real contender. This is a big test for him. My money is on Woodley, but Burns wants to play spoiler more than anything.

The heavyweight co-main between Blagoy Ivanov and Augusto Sakai will be interesting to see where these guys might go on after the event. Sakai has one career loss, while Ivanov had a good fight against Derrick Lewis. Greg Hardy is someone that could come into the conversation as a potential matchup between these guys. Then, Kevin Holland has a real test in Daniel Rodriguez, who is trying to start his UFC career on a winning streak. Rodriguez knows the importance of the fight and Holland is trying climb the ranks.

Roosevelt Roberts will make his 2020 debut against Brok Weaver. These are newer guys to the UFC but they both are interesting fighters that make this one a fun one to watch. Lastly, Hannah Cifers fights Mackenzie Dern. Cifers, is an impressive fighter with her only UFC losses coming from impressive fighters in Angela Hill and Maycee Barber. Dern is a black belt that has not been finished in the octagon. However, she has trouble making weight so that could be a key to the fight.

All of the fighters on this card are not real familiar with losing. I think this card is exciting and should have an intense atmosphere. These fights should be entertaining. As for the Prelims, I would suggest keeping an eye out on Jamahal Hill. He is undefeated and has a matchup with Klidson Farias de Abreu.

The fights are on ESPN+ starting at 6 pm est. on May 30th.
