Although the conclusion of the 2019-2020 NHL season is all up in the air right now, with a set plan but no dates on moving forward set, the league is giving us a taste of normal.  The NHL Awards voting has opened!  You have from right now through 5:30 PM on June 16, 2020 to make your vote count for your favorite players!

There are a variety of categories to pick from, including but not limited to, the player worthy of the Hart Award, basically your MVP for the league.  Norris Award, the League Defensive player who has remained consistent, and most benificial, to his team throughout the season.  The Calder Award, given to the most accomplished player in his debut NHL season.  The Lady Byng Award, which combines the work of sportsmanship a player has on the ice, to that work down around his community as a volunteer.  Vote for your favorite goaltender in the Vezina Award.  Last, to mention for this article, you can’t forget the person who brings it all together, the Jack Adam’s Award, meant to highlight the best leader in the head coach position across the NHL League.

Of course, these are just a few of the several awards you can vote on for on the NHL website.  Also, I must say, well done; I went to find the link and the voting actually seems to have crashed briefly, so keep checking back and vote often!  ( It is hard to tell when the winners will be recognized as such, normally they would be given out in June, as we dive into the final two-team battle over Stanley Cup 2020.

Again, this year has been anything but ordinary, but that should pave the way for some extraordinary winners and games as we’ve never seen before.  Several teams with injured players, destined to be out for the remainder of the season and playoff chase will return, due to the impromptu Covid-19 break.  This will be a battle of the best, so make your votes and keep checking back to Skullking Sports, where the NHL is gearing up to restart again, making NHL history daily!
