CBJ Contract Extension: Gabriel Carlsson

Late this afternoon, news broke from the Columbus Blue Jackets that Gabriel Carlsson will be a Blue Jacket through at least the 2021 – 2022 Season, after inking a new 2 year agreement with his team. Carlsson is a player in the defender position, and although he only saw 23 games as a Blue Jacket, he had 3 assists and a low number of penalty time. Further, he is a young player, with much potential to still give at only 23 years of age.
His contract of 2 years will look different depending on the season. The first in his contract, the 2020 – 2021 Season, will bee a contract splitting his time, between the Blue Jackets and the American Hockey League. This means he will be a Cleveland Monster with the potential to be a Blue Jacket, if needed, and his pay will be based on his use to both teams. In his second, 2021 – 2022 season, he will be only a Blue Jacket, as the contract reads now. Go Jackets!
