Ravens Rout Jags

The Baltimore Ravens continue to keep their playoff hopes alive. After an exciting showdown against Cleveland last week, Baltimore continues their winning streak to make a late push for a wild-card spot. The Pittsburgh Steelers have given both the Browns and Ravens hope that the division has yet to be decided.

The Ravens took on Jacksonville Sunday and had great success despite missing some key defenders. This was an anticipated matchup for newcomers Yannick Ngakoue and Calais Campbell, though the latter wasn’t able to suit up against his former team.

Ravens 40 – Jaguars 14

The Ravens moved the ball well to start the game, but an early Lamar Jackson interception slowed their scoring in the first quarter. From that point on, the Ravens dominated the game on both sides of the field.

The offense relied on Lamar’s arm instead of his legs; Jackson totaled 243 yards in the air compared to just 35 on the ground. He accounted for three touchdowns through the air and one on the ground. The ground game was quiet for the Ravens overall.

J.K. Dobbins had the most productive day with 14 carries for 64 yards and a score. Gus Edwards added another 42 yards on nine carries. Mark Ingram was a surprising healthy scratch.

The Ravens also missed some defenders on the day, most notably Marcus Peters and Jimmy Smith. Marlon Humphrey would be the only original starting cornerback for the Ravens on Sunday. Humphrey ended up leading the team in tackles on the day.

Yannick Ngakoue made his presence known to Gardner Minshew and his former team. Ngakoue was able to force a strip-sack on Minshew as the end of the 3rd quarter neared.

Marquise Brown and Mark Andrews were the leading receivers for the day. Brown has found a groove with Jackson as of late, but he will need to continue performing if the Ravens expect to make the playoffs. Andrews continues to be a strong target in the middle of the field for Jackson.

Miles Boykin and Dez Bryant both found the end zone on their lone catches for the day. This was the first touchdown for Dez Bryant since 2017.

Ravens’ Outlook

The Ravens have kept their playoff hopes alive, but will still need a little help to earn their way in. Baltimore will take on the Giants next Sunday. They will welcome their first full week of rest since the Ravens-Steelers game was delayed a few weeks ago. Cleveland just defeated the Giants 20-6.
