It was nice to be “back” in Nationwide Arena again. Even if we all watched from home, our team was home, for the first time in ten months. Crazy it has been so long since we’ve heard that cannon. And tonight, we got to hear it early, as Bjorkstrand drew a score in just 0:21! It was a beautiful goal, and start, for the home team.
In the second though, Lightning player Coleman scored first. This led to a knot up at 1 goal a piece, followed by Joseph, scoring again for the Lightning. We would go to the third period, 2-1.
Have no fear, Nick Foligno is here! He would get a goal in the first minute of the period. This would give us a tie, 2-2, and take us into another Overtime, when no other goals could be made in regulation.
Unfortunately, despite a valiant effort, the Blue Jackets could not hold on. Point would score for the Lightning, lightning fast, and give his team the win. In Overtime, the final was 3-2 Lightning.
It was an interesting night to say the least in Columbus. The team, who has been struggling, did well against the undefeated Stanley Cup Champ. I think this is willing to note, and gain a little hope from, given the very trying 1-2-2 start this season. It was an interesting night, not just for Overtime, and this improving skill though. We saw Korpisalo make 11 more saves than the opponent goaltender, another promising aspect from the evening. Not so promising, Dubois, he had only 3:55 in ice time. Dubois didn’t play, for the remainder of the game, including Overtime. It’s really unclear why, and you all know, I will not speculate. For right now, we simply know he didn’t play, if there are sound updates, I will pass them on to you all once researched. As we all know, Dubois, his contract and desire to stay in Columbus, has been very controversial, to say the least. I will not fan the flames, but only produce fact, as they come available.
To wrap up the evening, I think the best part of tonight is that there will be a rematch, Saturday in Nationwide Arena! Remember, the time for puck drop has been moved, it is now 2 PM, not 7 PM as originally scheduled. We’ll see you then!
