It’s all over folks, and it only took 1 goal in the end. The Canadiens put up a noble fight, but it’s all over. The Tampa Bay Lightning have done what few teams in history have, won back to back Stanley Cups. However, when you consider last years happened, in the middle of a pandemic, I consider this all the more amazing.
Player Pat Maroon, who won with the Lightning for now two years in a row, came from the winning St. Louis Blues. This marks his third Stanley Cup win in a row. Incredible, and much respect. This award last went to this position in the 2012 season, and I would not be surprised if he found his way back here, again.
The groomed goaltender, Andrei Vasilevskiy, now has two Stanley Cups at the age of 26. He was also named the MVP of the 2021 NHL Stanley Cup, for all he played, and won, for his team.
The series lasted five games. The first three, and the final fifth game, makes the magic number of four.
To the Canadiens, it was an amazing run. You did something that hasn’t been done for your team, for your club, in two and a half decades. Work hard, and you will be back. Stanley Cup or not, be proud of what you did for your franchise, and your fans.
To my Blue Jacket readers, Savard got himself a cup! While this is the second for Mcelhinney!
Go Lightning, and Go Tampa Bay! Your Boys are winners, again!
