It was just released, that the Blue Jackets have partnered with the McConnell Family, and created the Matiss Kivlenieks Memorial Fund. This comes just a little over a week, since the players unexpected death, at only 24. The two, jointly, will match all donations up to a cap of $80,000, in tribute to the players number, 80. All funds will be used to aid youth hockey in Latvia, where Kivi was from, and also in Columbus, where he played in the NHL.
