Werenski Misses Practice For Day Off

Normally I wouldn’t do an article like this, but given how Monday unfolded with Max Domi, I thought it couldn’t hurt.  He had taken a “maintenance” day, which quickly turned into an Injury Reserve situation.  He will miss up to 4 weeks with 3 fractured ribs.  With Zach Werenski not being at practice today, and this just happening, I thought I’d ease fans concerns before they arise.  Why?  Zach was given a medical check last night at the Red Wings Game (@Jacketsinsider).  Further, he was out multiple times last season with injuries, and as I write this I’m knocking on my wooden table, as to not jinx him this season.  With this being said, as I read the first line of the Tweet, regarding him being absent, my heart lept a bit.  So, to prevent that for you 5th line I’m doing this short article in reassurance to you all, his absence at practice today was simply a day off.  This was even stated by Head Coach Brad Larson, after practice concluded, in his post-interview.

I don’t like to guess, but strongly believe he is with family, as it was reported before the game last night that his grandparents and parents would be in the stands, watching him in Detroit at the Red Wings.  If this is the case, which I hope it is, I think I can speak for us all when I say that I hope he had a nice day with them.  However, we can’t wait to see him back on the ice next practice.
