A Big Night In Nationwide Arena- Sillinger’s First Goal- Laine Wins Overtime Again!

Tonight, Period 1 was just a lot of great defense between the Columbus Blue Jackets and New York Islanders.  In Period 2, Mayfield opened the scoring, for the Islanders.  This was quickly followed by a Boone Jenner goal.  Then, the youngest player, not just on the Blue Jackets team but in the entire NHL, scored his first career goal.  Cole Sillinger, with just two minutes left in the second period, gave his team the lead 2-1.  When we returned for the third period however, Barzal scored again for the Islanders, and would tie the game again at 2-2.

This would lead to overtime.  Big surprise right?  Game 4 and we’re doing this already a second time!  A quick shot by Patrik Laine would be your winning goal!  The final score 3-2 Blue Jackets.  This is Laine’s second overtime winning goal in a row.  Good for him!  This makes the Blue Jackets 3-1-0.  The final shot count was Blue Jackets 30 and Islanders 36.

We’ll see you back in Nationwide Arena on Saturday.  The Hurricanes will visit and puck drop is at 7:00 PM!
