Blue Jackets

A Night Full Of Wow At Nationwide- Columbus Blue Jackets

What a big night!  Let’s get into it 5th Line.

In Period 1 we saw Oliver Bjorkstrand’s second goal of the NHL season.  This gave the Blue Jackets a 1-0 lead going into Period 2.  In the second, Sillinger got a goal, but it was ruled to not be one upon review.  Boo.  That’s okay though, because in no time Hofmann scored instead, and this was a good goal!  Not only was it a good goal in terms of scoring, it was a great goal for Hofmann, as it’s his first in his NHL career.  We’re so happy for him.

After that goal we’d hear Sillinger’s name again. Not because of a goal, but because of a scuffle if you will.  We learned a lot tonight, one of which was that Sillinger can bring it, both ins scoring and conflict resolution.  He was given a double minor for roughing (@JacketsInsider) while Gurianov received one for the conflict.

The score would be 2-0, Blue Jackets, as we head into the third.  Werenski would then score his second goal of the season, too.  This was another great moment as Kuraly would be credited with an assist, his first point as a Columbus Blue Jacket.  Tyler Seguin scored for the Stars, with a lucky wall shot which found its way into Merzlikins net.  Hardly any time would pass though before Texier would find the open net, making the score 4-1.

It was a big night for firsts.  Hofmann’s first goal.  Kuraly would get an assist point, his first in the NHL.  The defense was on point.  The offense was on point.  Elvis let one goal on his net, all night.  Bjorkstrand got his 100th assist and has 9 points on the season, so far!  If you were looking for redemption from the Hurricanes Friday, you got it with a cherry on top fans!  What a night!

It’s off to New York Rangers on Friday, puck drop is 7:00 PM!
