Tonight’s Lineup Changes And Goaltender Announced- Blue Jackets

It’s been an interesting week, to say the very least.  As we take Monday’s game win in our back pocket, we went on the road to New York, to face the Rangers.  That game will be tonight at 7:00 PM, in Madison Square Garden.  The lineup has had some shifts this week, here is how and why.

First, Dean Kukan.  Remember he will be out up to two months, eight weeks, with a wrist fracture.

Max Domi, who was expected to be out a month, with three fractured ribs, will return tonight.  He’s been out for only two weeks.  According to him “I think pain’s overrated.”  (Quote via Twitter from @Aportzline and retweeted by @BlueJacketsNHL)  So, this would explain his four month return for a six month shoulder injury, too!

Yegor Chinakhov will not play tonight.  “He’s not out due to poor play. There’s a couple of things I’m going to show him on the coaching side of it but I think he’s building and trending in the right direction.”  (Quote via @Jacketsinsider and retweeted by @BlueJacketsNHL).  In my mind, this is a valuable learning experience for Chinakhov.  Getting pointers from your Head Coach, during a live game, in Madison Square Garden?  Sign me up, too!

The last note, in net tonight will be Elvis Merzlikins (@JacketsInsider).  This will be his first time in net, in an away game, this 2021-22 NHL season.  In his 4 game appearances his record is 4-0-0.

Tonight will be fun.  The Rangers and Blue Jackets haven’t met in a game since February 14, 2020.  In that game the Ranger’s won, in Nationwide Arena, 3-1.

It’s go time 5th Line!
