NHL Hands Down Finds To A Columbus Blue Jacket and Winnipeg Jets Player

Last nights 3-0 shutout win over the Winnipeg Jets, in Columbus, was epic for 5th Line Blue Jackets fans. However, other events which took place in the process of that big win will be costly for two participating players. First, the Columbus Blue Jackets Max Domi instigated a fight with Evgeny Svechnikov. Since Domi threw the first punch he received a 4 minute penalty, classified as “roughing”. On top of such he was handed down a $5,000.00 fined today for such as well. Svechnikov was given a 2 minute penalty for the same fight, however, no fine.
Given the nasty Gregory Hofmann cut, I have to be honest, I don’t recall the next penalty so well. However, that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. Josh Morrissey, a Winnipeg Jets defender, was also handed down the same fine amount as Max Domi. Apparently he slashed Columbus Blue Jackets star Alexander Texier, a forward for the opposing team. He will also pay a $5,000.00 fine. This incident for which he is being fined for took place in the third period with just minutes left on the clock. During the game he was handed a 2 minute penalty by the refs, but this will sting far more than that ever could.
Both of these are serious finds as the cap on such is set at $5,000.00. This means each man, in the eyes of the NHL, created conduct worth the maximum amount. If any new fine’s arise from last nights game I will pass them on. Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving 5th Line, and don’t forget we have the Canucks tonight, in Nationwide Arena, at 7:00 PM.
